“Squishy” is the best way that I can describe these chairs by Annie Evelyn of Brooklyn-based company New Colony Furniture. The chairs look hard and uncomfortable, but the seats are designed to be like upholstery and seem to form to your body upon touch. You’d think these were hard, but in fact, they squish right down when you put your hand on them, just like a bouncy cushion.

Annie Evelyn’s grandparents started Old Colony Furniture, which produced handmade, hand-carved, colonial-revival furniture. The company had showrooms in Boston, New York, and Los Angeles and manufactured their products in Nashua, NH. (via design milk)
